ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,671,742, issued on June 30, was assigned to PayPal Inc. (San Jose, Calif.).

"Digital asset transfer based on a unique physical token" was invented by Mary Harrigan (New York), Max Robert Gabreski (Peoria, Ariz.), Scott Southwood (Kihei, Hawaii), Lindsay Boland (Chicago) and Clifford Harrington (Piedmont, Calif.).
