ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 2 -- United States Patent no. 12,644,718, issued on June 2, was assigned to Oregon State University (Corvallis, Ore.).

"Vehicle energy routing" was invented by David Hamilton (Corvallis, Ore.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Briefly, embodiments, such as estimating energy utilization based at least in part on estimated regenerative energy production to select one or more preferred routes for an electric vehicle out of a network of routes, for example, are described."

The patent was filed on July 10, 2023, under Application No. 18/349,569.
