ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,602,201, issued on April 14, was assigned to NVIDIA Corp. (Santa Clara, Calif.).

"Processor and system to use mixed precision hardware on floating point operations" was invented by James Hansen Delfeld (Austin, Texas).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Apparatuses, systems, and techniques to enable efficient use of mixed precision hardware architecture. In at least one embodiment, one or more first precision circuits and one or more second precision circuits are used on portions of data sets."
