ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 31 -- United States Patent no. 12,588,612, issued on March 31, was assigned to Nunhems B.V. (Nunhem, Netherlands).
"Parthenocarpic watermelon plants" was invented by Daniel Puglisi (Sant Agata Bolognese, Italy), Alberto Sirizzotti (Sant Agata Bolognese, Italy), Courtney Hu (Davis, Calif.) and Mona Mazaheri (Davis, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention is directed to seedless fruit producing watermelon, cucumber or melon plants. The present invention also comprises methods for production of said plants and methods for producing seedless watermelon, cucumber or melon fruits."
The patent was filed on Oct. 4, 2021, under Application No. 18/031,322.
