ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,690,534, issued on July 28, was assigned to Nunhems B.V. (Nunhem, Netherlands).

"Melon variety NUN 71550 MEM" was invented by Kaori Ando (Acampo, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct melon variety NUN 71550 MEM is disclosed as well as seeds and plants and fruits thereof. NUN 71550 MEM is a Honey Dew melon variety, comprising intermediate resistance to Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melonis Race 0 and Race 2 and Podosphaera xanthii Race 5."

The patent was filed on Nov. 29, 2022, under Application No. 18/071,140.
