ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,603,745, issued on April 14, was assigned to NTT DOCOMO Inc. (Tokyo).

"Overhead reduction of pilot reference signals" was invented by Hiroki Harada (Tokyo), Daisuke Kurita (Tokyo), Mayuko Okano (Tokyo), Satoshi Nagata (Tokyo), Masaya Okamura (Tokyo) and Tomoya Ohara (Tokyo).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A terminal comprises: a reception unit that receives a reference signal used for a purpose other than a measurement related to a reception quality in a physical layer; and a control unit that performs the measurement related to the reception quality in the physical layer using the reference signal."
