ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,729,274, issued on Sept. 8, was assigned to Northwestern University (Evanston, Ill.).
"Polyrotaxanes and methods of making and using the same" was invented by Yunyan Qiu (Evanston, Ill.) and James Fraser Stoddart (Evanston, Ill.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Polyrotaxanes and methods of making and using the same are disclosed herein. The polyrotaxanes comprise a threading component comprising a collecting chain and at least one artificial molecular pump on the terminus of the TC. The artificial molecular pump comprises a coulombic barrier, a steric barrier, and a recognition site between the coulombic barrier and the steric barrier."
