ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 14 -- United States Patent no. 12,679,952, issued on July 14, was assigned to Northeastern University (Boston).

"Fiber-matrix composites with negative Poisson's ratio" was invented by Yaning Li (Durham, N.H.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Described is a new family of fiber-reinforced composites/mechanical metamaterials with negative Poisson's ratio."

The patent was filed on Feb. 27, 2024, under Application No. 18/588,558.
