ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 2 -- United States Patent no. 12,643,908, issued on June 2, was assigned to NAVIN SAXENA RESEARCH & TECHNOLOGY PVT. LTD. (Mumbai, India).

"Process for the synthesis of noroxymorphone from morphine" was invented by Dmitry Gorbachev (Nottingham, Great Britain), Hon Wai Lam (Nottingham, Great Britain), Aakarsh Saxena (Mumbai, India) and Navin Satyapal Saxena (Mumbai, Great Britain).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to a novel, efficient, pot- and atom-economical, and industrially applicable process for converting morphine to noroxymorphone using reagents and solvents of lesser toxicity and lower cost with respect to those used in the prior art."
