ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,663,668, issued on June 23, was assigned to National Technology & Engineering Solutions of Sandia LLC (Albuquerque, N.M.) and The Regents of the University of California (Oakland, Calif.).

"Wideband acousto-optic modulator/isolator in integrated photonics" was invented by Nils Thomas Otterstrom (Edgewood, N.M.), Peter Rakich (New Haven, Conn.), Yishu Zhou (New Haven, Conn.), Freek Ruesink (Oegstgeest, Netherlands), Hoatian Cheng (New Haven, Conn.), Shai Gertler (Vienna), Eric Kittlaus (Altadena, Calif.) and John Bowers (Santa Barbara, Calif.).
