According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A damping mechanism for providing vibration damping between coaxially mounted first, outer, shaft and second, inner, shaft of a drive train. The damping mechanism includes a friction disk, a Belleville spring and an adjustment shim arranged to be mounted under a pre-load force within the first shaft exerting a force against the second shaft, the damping mechanism arranged to be secured in the first shaft by a locking nut."
