US Patent Issued to Micron Technology on Aug. 11 for "Iterative error decoding with early termination of decoding process" (California Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,706,615, issued on Aug. 11, was assigned to Micron Technology Inc. (Boise, Idaho).

"Iterative error decoding with early termination of decoding process" was invented by Mustafa N. Kaynak (San Diego) and Sivagnanam Parthasarathy (Carlsbad, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method for decoding data is disclosed. The method includes determining that a codeword received from a memory device has errors and initiating a soft decoding process to decode embedded data from the codeword based on assigning respective LLR values to bits of the codeword and based on updating LLR values of the bits at each iteration of the soft decoding process....
