US Patent Issued to Meta Platforms Technologies on July 28 for "Virtual bias lighting" (California Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,694,806, issued on July 28, was assigned to Meta Platforms Technologies LLC (Menlo Park, Calif.).

"Virtual bias lighting" was invented by Jun Miao (San Jose, Calif.) and Alex Dongseok Shin (Brea, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A display of a head-mounted display renders a video-viewing window. A bias lighting boundary is rendered between the video-viewing window and a background. The bias lighting boundary reduces a contrast between the video-viewing window and the background."
