US Patent Issued to Merck Patent on Sept. 15 for "Liquid-crystal medium" (South Korean Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,735,641, issued on Sept. 15, was assigned to Merck Patent GmbH (Darmstadt, Germany).

"Liquid-crystal medium" was invented by Eun-Kyu Lee (Pyeongtaek, South Korea), Jin-Soon Park (Pyeongtaek, South Korea) and Myung-Hee Kim (Pyeongtaeki-si, South Korea).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A liquid-crystal (LC) medium comprising polymerizable compounds, its use for optical, electro-optical and electronic purposes, in particular in LC displays, especially in LC displays of the PSA (polymer sustained alignment) or SA (self-aligning) mode, an LC display of the PSA or SA mode comprising the LC medium, and a process of manufacturing the LC display."...
