ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 7 -- United States Patent no. 12,594,658, issued on April 7, was assigned to MAKITA Corp. (Anjo, Japan).

"Impact tool" was invented by Yuta Suzuki (Anjo, Japan) and Haruki Tejima (Anjo, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An impact tool includes: a motor; a speed reduction mechanism rotated by the motor; a hammer rotated by rotation of the motor transmitted via the speed reduction mechanism; an anvil to be impacted in a rotation direction by the hammer; a motor case accommodating the motor; and a gear case accommodating the speed reduction mechanism. One or both of the motor case and the gear case are made of a magnesium alloy."
