"Modular cable replacement" was invented by Scott L. Hurwitz (Rochester, N.Y.), Christopher J. Hughson (Rochester, N.Y.) and Ian R. Adey (West Seneca, N.Y.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present disclosure provides a cable coupling assembly for releasably coupling a first cable subassembly and a second cable assembly. The second cable subassembly includes a coupler affixed to a core of the second cable subassembly.
