ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,662,723, issued on June 23, was assigned to Mag Specialties Inc. (Denver).

"High strength, combustion-resistant, tube-extrudable aircraft-grade magnesium alloy" was invented by Scott C. Sutton (Parker, Colo.), Daniel D. Hartman (Parker, Colo.), Nes Abdulrahman (Arvada, Colo.) and Dean Robert Hartwick (Haley Station, Canada).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Embodiments of the invention include magnesium-based alloys especially adapted for extrudable aerospace grade applications. Alloys of the invention provide excellent combinations of mechanical properties, good extrudability in hollow forms, and resistance to combustion."
