ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,785,397, issued on Nov. 3, was assigned to Lunar Energy Inc. (Mountain View, Calif.).
"Load shedding" was invented by Mark Holveck (Sunnyvale, Calif.) and Randol Aikin (Piedmont, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Controlling a load includes sensing a characteristic of a circuit. A device loads the circuit. It further includes, based at least in part on the sensed characteristic, determining whether the circuit is in a state in which load shedding should be performed. It further includes controlling a switch to control power from the circuit to the device."
