ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,630,830, issued on May 19, was assigned to Life Technologies Corp. (Carlsbad, Calif.).

"Gene editing tools" was invented by Jonathan Chesnut (Carlsbad, Calif.), Alicia Ihlan (San Diego), Robert Potter (San Marcos, Calif.) and Youngzee Song (Carlsbad, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present disclosure relates to recombinant nucleases, recombinant nucleases operatively linked to nucleic acid binding domains, and methods of making and using them."

The patent was filed on Sept. 13, 2022, under Application No. 17/931,858.
