ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,603,277, issued on April 14, was assigned to LG ENERGY SOLUTION LTD. (Seoul, South Korea).

"Negative electrode active material for lithium secondary battery and method of preparing the same" was invented by Hyun Chul Kim (Daejeon, South Korea), Yong Ju Lee (Daejeon, South Korea) and Eun Kyung Kim (Daejeon, South Korea).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A negative electrode active material which includes a silicon-based composite represented by SiOa (0less than equal toagreater than1), and a carbon coating layer distributed on a surface of the silicon-based composite, and which has a bimodal pore structure including nanopores and mesopores. ...
