US Patent Issued to LG Electronics on June 23 for "APS signaling-based video or image coding" (South Korean Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,666,028, issued on June 23, was assigned to LG Electronics Inc. (Seoul, South Korea).

"APS signaling-based video or image coding" was invented by Seethal Paluri (Seoul, South Korea), Seunghwan Kim (Seoul, South Korea) and Jie Zhao (Seoul, South Korea).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "According to the present disclosure, ALF parameters and/or LMCS parameters can be hierarchically signaled, which enables a reduction in the amount of data to be signaled for video/image coding and an increase in the coding efficiency."
