ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,606,446, issued on April 21, was assigned to LG Chem Ltd. (Seoul, South Korea).
"Aerogel composite" was invented by Kyung Hyun Lee (Daejeon, South Korea), Kyoungshil Oh (Daejeon, South Korea), Mi Ri Kim (Daejeon, South Korea), Saebomi Park (Daejeon, South Korea) and Yongjin Bae (Daejeon, South Korea).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An aerogel composite which maintains a high degree of hydrophobicity, and also an excellent level of heat insulation properties even when exposed to a high-temperature environment."
The patent was filed on Nov. 14, 2024, under Application No. 18/947,900.
