ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 24 -- United States Patent no. 12,559,746, issued on Feb. 24, was assigned to Joslin Diabetes Center (Boston).

"Targeting micro-RNAs for exosomal delivery or cellular retention" was invented by C. Ronald Kahn (Falls Church, Va.) and Ruben Garcia Martin (Boston).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein are exosomal sorting motifs and cellular retention motifs for microRNAs. Methods of use for directing miRNA to exosomes or retaining miRNA in cells are also disclosed."

The patent was filed on Jan. 22, 2021, under Application No. 17/156,145.
