"Intelligent reflecting surface" was invented by Daiichi Suzuki (Tokyo), Shinichiro Oka (Tokyo), Shigesumi Araki (Tokyo) and Mitsutaka Okita (Tokyo).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed is a reflecting element including a first electrode, a first orientation film, a second orientation film, a liquid crystal layer, a third orientation film, a fourth orientation film, and a second electrode.
