ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,641,855, issued on May 26, was assigned to International Business Machines Corp. (Armonk, N.Y.).
"Regulated mobile ion synapses" was invented by Jin Ping Han (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), Jianshi Tang (Elmsford, N.Y.), Kevin K. Chan (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Ahmet Serkan Ozcan (Los Altos, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method of making a mobile ion regulated device includes stacking a dielectric layer on a substrate. Mobile ions are placed within the dielectric layer. An electrode layer is provided on the dielectric layer. The mobile ions are directed to a designated area of the dielectric layer."
