ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,564,939, issued on March 3, was assigned to International Business Machines Corp. (Armonk, N.Y.).

"Swarm snake robots' collaboration for controlling ropes" was invented by Sarbajit K. Rakshit (Kolkata, India) and Asim Munawar (Demarest, N.J.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A system including one or more snake robots, and a plurality of ropes. The one or more snake robots are adapted to be coupled to each of the plurality of ropes in order to control movement of the plurality of ropes in an activity."
