US Patent Issued to Intel on July 14 for "Photonic alignment device and method" (Arizona Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 14 -- United States Patent no. 12,681,244, issued on July 14, was assigned to Intel Corp. (Santa Clara, Calif.).

"Photonic alignment device and method" was invented by Yonggang Li (Chandler, Ariz.) and Bai Nie (Chandler, Ariz.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An electronic device and associated methods are disclosed. In one example, the electronic device includes a photonic die and at least one optical fiber. Devices and methods are shown that include an optical coupler and one or more correction regions to align a beam between the photonic die and the optical fiber."

The patent was filed on Dec. 30, 2022, under Application No. 18/091,430.
