ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,609,001, issued on April 21, was assigned to IGT (Las Vegas).

"Modifying symbols accumulated over a quantity of games played" was invented by David Ceniceroz (Reno, Nev.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Gaming systems and methods that modify one or more symbols based on an accumulation of such symbols at one or more symbol display positions over a plurality of plays of a game."

The patent was filed on Jan. 17, 2024, under Application No. 18/415,109.
