ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,695,348, issued on July 28, was assigned to HYUNDAI MOTOR COMPANY (Seoul, South Korea) and KIA Corp. (Seoul, South Korea).

"Stator assembly, a hairpin winding motor including the same, and a method of winding stator coil of a hairpin winding motor" was invented by Kyung Gook Bae (Seoul, South Korea), Jae Eun Kim (Seoul, South Korea) and Si Myung Jang (Seoul, South Korea).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "In a stator assembly configured to respond to a voltage difference between coils in the same slot in a coil winding part, the coil for each phase includes a first half-coil winding and a second half-coil winding formed by connecting hairpins...
