"Electrochromic element and lens for spectacles" was invented by Hironori Kawakami (Tokyo) and Shigeki Miyazaki (Tokyo).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An electrochromic element in which a decrease in responsiveness is minimized by making a side of the electrochromic element have gas barrier properties, and a lens for spectacles, the electrochromic element including a pair of electrode layers and an electrochromic layer arranged between the electrode layers, wherein a barrier layer surrounding the electrochromic layer is provided."
