According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Cleaning of paint applicators such as brushes and rollers is made less messy and more efficient by cleaning them in a chamber of a housing to which a source of cleaning fluid flows, particularly with amount and pressure of such flow is controlled by at least one valve position immediately adjacent to and in fluid communication with the chamber of the housing, and from which cleaning fluid flows through one or more small discharge openings."
