ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,709,311, issued on Aug. 18, was assigned to Gunderson LLC (Lake Oswego, Ore.).
"Railroad car" was invented by Peter L. Jones (Southlake, Texas), Caglar Ozerdim (Dallas) and Xiaoyan Lu (Arlington, Texas).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A box railroad car with one or more door assemblies having doors that are more elastic than known boxcar doors, and that after being engaged in a potentially damaging manner, return or substantially return to their natural or original configurations."
The patent was filed on May 1, 2023, under Application No. 18/310,146.
