ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,575,943, issued on March 17, was assigned to Globus Medical Inc. (Audubon, Pa.).
"Locking swivel patella clamp" was invented by Ryan Frasca (Phoenixville, Pa.) and Jason Zappacosta (Philadelphia).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A patella clamp includes a lockable swivel that is able to freely tilt from 1deg to 30deg in any direction and then be locked in that orientation. This ability to freely swivel will allow a user to align a resected surface of a patella parallel to the other end of the patella clamp to make the operative surfaces of the implant and the patella substantially parallel to each other."
