US Patent Issued to GIVAUDAN on July 28 for "Process of making organic compounds" (British, Swiss Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,692,214, issued on July 28, was assigned to GIVAUDAN SA (Vernier, Switzerland).

"Process of making organic compounds" was invented by Simon Ellwood (Sissinghurst, Great Britain) and Chi-Lam Tse (Duebendorf, Switzerland).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "There is provided a method for preparing homofarnesol (1), the method comprising the steps of: a) providing farnesyl chloride (2) b) reacting farnesyl chloride (2) to homofarnesate (3) by alkoxycarbonylation; and c) reacting homofarnesate (3) to homofarnesol (1),wherein the configuration of the double bonds in the compounds 1, 2 and 3 is preserved."
