According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method and system for detecting an advanced stage of age-related macular degeneration in a retina. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging data for a retina is received. A presence of choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in the retina is detected, via a machine learning system, using the OCT imaging data. An output that indicates that the presence of CNV in the retina has been detected is generated."
