US Patent Issued to Florida Foundation Seed Producers on Oct. 20 for "Sweet orange plant named 'OLL-DC-3-40'" (Florida Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 21 -- United States Patent no. PP37,786, issued on Oct. 20, was assigned to Florida Foundation Seed Producers Inc. (Marianna, Fla.).

"Sweet orange plant named 'OLL-DC-3-40'" was invented by Jude Grosser (Winter Haven, Fla.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of sweet orange plant named 'OLL-DC-3-40' selected for processing and fresh market, characterized by an increased tolerance to HLB. Fruit of 'OLL-DC-3-40' are round, and trees of 'OLL-DC-3-40' are large and display quick growth."

The patent was filed on Nov. 6, 2025, under Application No. 19/381,483.
