ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,691,033, issued on July 28, was assigned to Elanco US Inc. (Indianapolis).

"Lyophilized cake in straight-walled vial" was invented by Donald D. Evans II (Greenfield, Ind.), Mayur Patel (Greenfield, Ind.) and Lee J. Stimpson (Greenfield, Ind.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A system including a vial and methods of its use to provide a lyophilized cake removable from the vial without cracking or breaking."

The patent was filed on Nov. 5, 2020, under Application No. 17/778,147.
