ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,551,344, issued on Feb. 17, was assigned to Edwards Lifesciences Corp. (Irvine, Calif.).

"Heart valve sealing devices and delivery devices therefor" was invented by Grant Matthew Stearns (Tustin, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An implantable prosthetic device has two anchor portions. Each anchor portion is configured to attach the prosthetic device to a native valve leaflet. The two anchor portions can be opened both simultaneously by a single actuator and can also be opened independently by two or more separate actuators."
