"Peperomia plant named 'EC-PEPE-2501'" was invented by Obed Jacob Smit (Sappemeer, Netherlands).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Peperomia plant named 'EC-PEPE-2501' is disclosed, characterized by acute foliage with very dark green upper sides and red under sides. Plants are larger than most Peperomia caperata. The new cultivar is a Peperomia, typically used as an ornamental plant."
