ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 15 -- United States Patent no. PP37,487, issued on June 23, was assigned to Eden Collection B.V. (Netherlands).

"Peperomia plant named 'EC-PEPE-2502'" was invented by Obed Jacob Smit (Sappemeer, Netherlands).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Peperomia plant named 'EC-PEPE-2502' is disclosed, characterized by rounded. glossy leaves with a unique mosaic pattern of grey to red color, and deep-lying venation. The new cultivar is a Peperomia, typically used as an ornamental plant."
