ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 2 -- United States Patent no. 12,644,464, issued on June 2, was assigned to ECP Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (Aachen, Germany).
"Compressible rotor for a fluid pump" was invented by Joerg Schumacher (Aachen, Germany), Mario Scheckel (Aachen, Germany) and Henning Schlicht (Aachen, Germany).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to a rotor for a fluid pump, in particular for use in the medical sphere, the rotor being compressible for bringing to the place of use and thereafter being expandable. The compressibility is assisted by the provision of cavities, in particular also production of the rotor at least partially from a foam."
