US Patent Issued to Eastman Chemical on June 23 for "Biodegradable compositions and articles made from cellulose acetate" (Tennessee Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,662,587, issued on June 23, was assigned to Eastman Chemical Co. (Kingsport, Tenn.).

"Biodegradable compositions and articles made from cellulose acetate" was invented by Wayne Ken Shih (Kingsport, Tenn.), Stephanie Kay Clendennen (Kingsport, Tenn.), Jeffrey Michael Clauson (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Gaurav Amarpuri (Johnson City, Tenn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A thermoformable and biodegradable cellulose acetate composition comprising at least one cellulose acetate and either polyethylene glycol or m ethoxy polyethylene glycol are disclosed. The compositions are formed into films, sheets, and articles."
