ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 24 -- United States Patent no. 12,559,722, issued on Feb. 24, was assigned to DiscGenics Inc. (Salt Lake City).
"Human disc tissue" was invented by Valery Kukekov (Memphis, Tenn.), Umar Akbar (Arlington, Texas) and Christopher D. Duntsch (Huntsville, Texas).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "This invention provides disc stem cells, processes for obtaining and culturing disc stem cells, and methods for repairing damaged or diseased disc tissue comprising the use of the disc stem cells of the invention."
The patent was filed on April 28, 2020, under Application No. 16/860,652.
