ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 14 -- United States Patent no. 12,678,155, issued on July 14, was assigned to Cypris Medical Inc. (Chicago).

"Suturing system" was invented by Richard Keith Taylor (Fall City, Wash.), Amanda Kay Woodcock (Seattle) and Adam David Hensel (Gahanna, Ohio).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A suturing system including apparatus and methods for disposing stitches in a substrate comprising a thread carrier which inserts a thread in the substrate at a first location and withdraws the thread from the substrate at a second location."

The patent was filed on Sept. 9, 2024, under Application No. 18/828,692.
