US Patent Issued to Cubic ITS on July 21 for "Synchronised sensor fusion pipeline" (Canadian, British Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,688,696, issued on July 21, was assigned to Cubic ITS Inc. (Sugar Land, Texas).

"Synchronised sensor fusion pipeline" was invented by Baoming Ding (Richmond Hill, Canada), Yixin Huangfu (Toronto) and Steffen Reymann (Guildford, Great Britain).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method for performing traffic monitoring by utilizing distinct sensors is disclosed. A radar point cloud is obtained from a radar sensor and image data is obtained from an image sensor. The radar sensor and the image sensor are fixedly mounted to observe traffic.
