ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,577,026, issued on March 17, was assigned to Cryovac LLC (Charlotte, N.C.).

"Abrasion resistant heat shrinkable multilayer film" was invented by Prasanna U. Perera (Spartanburg, S.C.) and Sonola Onasanya (Charlotte, N.C.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A multilayer heat-shrinkable film having a sealant layer and skin layer each including a linear low density polyethylene copolymer and a silicon dioxide, at least two substrate layers including an ethylene copolymer; and a core layer including a very low density polyethylene copolymer."

The patent was filed on Feb. 18, 2020, under Application No. 17/433,362.
