ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,667,119, issued on June 30, was assigned to COVERCRESS INC. (St. Louis), BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERSITY (Normal, Ill.) and Regents of the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis).
"Low fiber pennycress meal, seeds, and methods of making" was invented by Tim Ulmasov (San Diego), Gary Hartnell (St. Peters, Mo.), John C. Sedbrook (Bloomington, Ill.), Michael David Marks (Roseville, Minn.), Ratan Chopra (St. Louis) and Maliheh Esfahanian (San Diego).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Pennycress seed, seed lots, and seed meal having reduced fiber content and improved suitability for use in producing animal feed are provided."
