US Patent Issued to CORNING on May 5 for "Anti-reflective coatings for IR-transmitting substrates" (New Hampshire Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,618,138, issued on May 5, was assigned to CORNING Inc. (Corning, N.Y.).

"Anti-reflective coatings for IR-transmitting substrates" was invented by Nicholas Levi Bredberg (Jaffrey, N.H.), Lance Changyong Kim (Rindge, N.H.) and Yongli Xu (Keene, N.H.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Optical elements including YbF3 layers with high transmittance in the LWIR spectral range are described. The YbF3 layer is produced by an ion-assisted deposition process under high voltage conditions. Dense, uniform, and nearly defect-free YbF3 layers are formed.
