ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,754,370, issued on Oct. 6, was assigned to Cisco Technology Inc. (San Jose, Calif.).

"Bilayer photonic adiabatic 2x2 splitter" was invented by Jean-Luc J. Tambasco (Macungie, Pa.) and Dominic F. Siriani (Lansdale, Pa.).

In one aspect, an adiabatic splitter includes a first waveguide and a second waveguide spaced from the first waveguide by a gap. The second waveguide has a first layer and a second layer.
