ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,661,493, issued on June 23, was assigned to CENTRE FOR COMMERCIALIZATION OF REGENERATIVE MEDICINE (Toronto).

"Aseptic connector with disposable air lock" was invented by Spencer Hoover (Winchester, Mass.), Calley Hirsch (Toronto) and Rajan Ramanuj (Mississauga, Canada).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Described herein are systems for an aseptic connector, including a reusable aseptic connector. A connector system is provided for establishing the aseptic fluid connection. The connector system includes a first connector, a second connector and an airlock. Also provided is an air lock and a connector, as well as methods of use thereof."
